You should use only Tempest “Rosco” smoke fluid in Tempest “Rosco” Smoke Machines. The earlier Tempest smoke machines (1601, 1801, 9000) were manufactured by Martin and use a Martin specified formula. Tempest offers a “generic” smoke fluid that is safe to use in other brands of machines including the Martin machines.

The best way to make coloured smoke is to use normal smoke fluid (white smoke) and to colour wash the smoke with coloured lighting.
