If the packing material around the roots of a bareroot plant is dry to the touch, moisten it and pour off any excess water. Do not remove the packing material until you are ready to plant. If the potting mix of a pot-grown plant feels dry, moisten it until water drains freely from the holes in the bottom of the pot.
