I went windows 2003 enterprise server several years ago when I set my system up. Just recently I realised that was the right choice when I had to go from 4 gigs of ram to 18 gigs. Make sure you can install more then 4 gigs of ram on whatever software you use because SQL can and will take advantage of the extra ram. HUGE performance boost since I added more ram.
