Chickens which are fed a complete diet such as Purina Start & Grow, Layena or Meat Builder do not need grit for digestion. If chickens are being fed whole grains such as Purina Scratch Grains or if they are outside on the range, then grit should be fed to aid in grinding up feed in their crop. In this situation, grit should be fed 1 pound per 100 chickens twice per week. It can be fed free choice or mixed with the regular feed.

You would need to wash all linens with bleach/borax, drying at least 20-30 minutes on the highest heat setting, and place all sheets/blankets in a dryer on high for at least 20 minutes everyday for any beds that the animals have been on. You also need to treat any other furniture as well as car seats that your animals have been on, usually sprinkling DE (diatomeacous earth) will kill any and all mites. Carpets and upholstery need to be thoroughly vacuumed and then dispose of the bag.

The first step is to determine how much lumber you’ll dry in a year. Then figure your average drying time for each of the species you’ll be drying, and you can calculate the size kiln you need from there. For example: you need to dry 500,000 board feet of oak per year. Fresh off the saw, oak takes about 28-30 days to dry, so you’ll be able to do 12 loads in a year. Each load will need to be 42,000 board feet to give you the 500,000 board feet you need for the year.

They will eat just about anything! There are commercial poultry foods available at local feed stores, or you can make your own mix. People feed chickens corn, oats, wheat, rye, soy, fresh greens from the garden (weeds as well), table scraps (they love spaghetti!), worms and other bugs. WE are a large Healthcare organization in North Carolina. We acquired a 300 unit (apartment) Retirement Community in the alst few years.
