You can shower or bathe the day after surgery. Avoid getting soap or water in the eyes or immersing in the ocean, in a pool or in a Jacuzzi for al least 1 week after the surgery.

Dr. Woods uses a 'plastic surgery' closure of both the MIS total knee and MIS total hip replacement wounds. This is essentially a single running stitch of dissolvable suture material that is woven from side to side down the length of the 2 ? to 5 inch hip incision or the 4 to 6 inch knee incision. This is in turn covered with a plastic paint-on dressing called Dermabond. There are no sutures to take out or that would allow infection to get under the skin.

Generally, MicroSpine is "booked" ahead for both evaluations and surgeries, but openings do occur. Usually, we can get you in for surgery within a month. The physicians only allow bookings approximately two months in advance, thus, we may place you on our waiting list until we begin scheduling the next time period. We always stress to potential patients that good doctors are busy while questionable doctors are not and can usually get you in for surgery right away.

You may shower 3 days after surgery if the wound is dry. Keep water exposure to the incision site brief and blot it dry when you get out. Do not bathe or swim or Jacuzzi (ie. Do not submerge the incision) for approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

New Bariatric program appointments with the nurse practitioner are made once we receive your personal history form. An evaluation appointment with the surgeon is usually booked 4-6 weeks after we receive a clearance letter from your clinical nutritionist or bariatric physician. Once a patient is seen by the surgeon and the surgeon and patient agree surgery is appropriate, the operation can usually be scheduled within 8 weeks.

You can shower on POD 1, and you should replace the dressing only as needed, with gauze dressing or band-aids.

We recommend that you wait a minimum of 4 hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. If you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your long term tan.

It seems silly, but you will have to get your doctor's permission to take your first shower. Baths will be allowed later than showers. You will be given permission to shower usually somewhere around 5-10 days. The doc wants to make sure the wound is healed enough so the risk of infection is minimal. He will also tell you to wrap your knee in a plastic bag, or something similar and tape the top and bottom so it is watertight. You need to keep the water out so there is no chance of infection.

Normally, you can shower 24 hours after an operation on your abdomen (tummy) and take a bath after 48 hours. It's a good idea to make sure someone is around when you get in to the bath, in case you find it uncomfortable or tricky to get out. Don't rub or wash the scars, gentle washing in warm water with a mild soap or body wash gel, avoiding the actual scars is all that is needed. Usually, if for some reason it's not O.

The Home Ventilation Institute recommends that a fan should be left on for 20 minutes more to clear humidity adequately and to ensure moisture and condensation in the fan body or ducting is minimized. AVN is a progressive disease. To determine exactly when collapse of the hip will occur is unpredictable. Progression of AVN may be as early as 1 month or may take several months (usually in less than 20 months).
