The GED Testing Program compares your performance on the tests to the results of Grade 12 students on the same tests. The tests take into consideration the skills and knowledge people are expected to retain from high school, especially the ability to reason, put together information, and draw conclusions. If you obtain a standard score of at least 450 on each of the five GED Tests, you will receive an Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate.

The GED is accepted as an equivalent to a high school diploma by approximately 97% of colleges and universities in the U.S. and 95% of employers because they recognize the GED test as a rigorous examination equal to or exceeding high school proficiency. The GED tests are standardized and normed using a national random sample of graduating high school seniors.

If you do not have a High School diploma or GED, you may still qualify to attend Western Beauty Institute. You must be 18 and pass a one-hour ATB (Ability-to-Benefit) test, which is administered to prospective students each Monday afternoon at our Lancaster campus and each Tuesday afternoon at our Panorama City campus. Our Admissions personnel will provide you with information on how to arrange for the test.

High school transcripts are only mandatory if you are under 18, have been graduated or passed the GED and are seeking special admission to TMCC. (If you are under 18-years-old and have not graduated, special forms are available at A&R for your admission.) If your ACT or SAT scores are posted on your transcript and you want to use those for placement in English or math, submit your transcript. High school transcripts are also required when applying for financial aid or scholarships.

After graduation, many of our children continue their education in colleges and universities across the nation. Most decide to attend a Christian school while others choose community colleges or vocational schools. Every child is encouraged to pursue their academic studies and training.

You may earn a high school diploma from the state where you are now residing or you may earn a Louisiana high school diploma if you meet the Louisiana graduation requirements.

If there is sufficient interest within the SDLC and HLN communities, members of SelfDesign exec and a selection of our Learning Consultants are interested in designing a grad program that could begin as early as Sept. 2007.

A high school diploma or GED is not a prerequisite for admission to a technical college, but the diploma or GED may be required for admission into specific academic programs. Students who are admitted to a technical college, enrolled in six or more credit hours, and who meet the other eligibility requirements may receive lottery tuition assistance.

Naropa University will review applications from students who have completed a GED. It is recommended that students submit a transcript from any high school attended. Students must submit an official copy of their GED with their admission application.

You must pass the state GED examination given by the Maryland State Department of Education. The test is given on the second weekend of every month. Howard County residents are automatically assigned to the closest testing center, located at Catonsville Community College, unless they specify otherwise on the registration form. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a person with a GED certificate will likely earn less than a person with a high school diploma. More importantly, a person with a high school diploma is more likely to complete a college degree than a one with simply a GED certificate. Students cannot tranfer directly to a four year college without a high school diploma or GED, however students can attend a community college without a high school diploma or GED and take all the coursework and tranfer preparation needed to transfer to a four-year college.

Practical Nursing is the only program that requires a high school diploma or GED. However, GED preparation is available free of charge and HTC encourages everyone to work toward a GED while attending their program.
