A duvet cover is the same as a comforter cover; it is not the filled comforter itself. Think of it as a large pillowcase that is used to protect the comforter. (In Canada and Europe, the comforter itself is called a duvet.) Most duvet covers have button enclosures for ease in removing the comforter when you want to wash the cover, which fits easily into washing machines.
