ultrasound test is a radiology technique, which uses high- frequency sound waves to produce images of the organs and structures of the body. The sound waves are sent through body tissues with a device called a transducer. The transducer is placed directly on top of the skin, which has a gel applied to the surface. The sound waves that are sent by the transducer through the body are then reflected by internal structures as "echoes.

Artificial insemination is now more commonly referred to as,IUI, Intrauterine insemination. It is a procedure used for couples with unexplained infertility, minimal male factor infertility, and women with cervical mucus problems. It is a procedure of using the husband's or donor sperm, washing and treating the sperm and injecting it into the woman during the time of ovulation. IUI

In Dr. Biller's study (sometimes referred to as "the Ohio study"), Dr. Biller was able to diagnose cats at 10 months of age with 98% accuracy (as determined by eventual histopathology exams after natural death or euthanasia). Given the many variables in real-world testing (the skill, training and experience of the sonographer; the ultrasound equipment; etc.), my personal opinion is that the real-world accuracy will be somewhat lower -- perhaps in the 90% to 95% range.

Ultrasound allows us to see the soft tissues in your body. Sound waves bounce off of things. You may be familiar with the use of sonar in submarines! The Ultrasound machine converts the echoes (or bounces of sound waves) into pictures. We can tell a lot about the contents of various parts of the body by using this simple, easily tolerated test. Ultrasound does not show us your bone structure; x-rays do that very well. The gall bladder is commonly evaluated with Ultrasound as a first test.

Artificial Insemination is allowed to be used as a breeding tool for animals that will be included in the Randall herdbook. The Registry encourages the use of live bulls to the extent possible as a means of increasing the number of sires used and thereby protecting the diversity of the gene pool. However AI can accomplish specific breeding objectives and may be the only option for breeders who are unable to keep a bull.

The number of straws required per insemination is determined by thawing a straw and rating its post thaw motility. For a frozen semen breeding you want to have a minimum of 100 million motile sperm per insemination. Each straw holds 50 million sperm but not all of them will survive the freezing process, hence the evaluation of "post thaw motility". The higher the percent post thaw motility the fewer straws are required.

The core of this method consists of facilitating the way of a sperm to the egg by injecting sperm, after special laboratory preparation, by means of a thin tube into the uterine cavity during the period of ovulation. The basic prerequisite for the application of this method is the preserved permeability of the Fallopian tubes. IUI can have a therapeutic effect in cases of disorders in male fertility, immunologically conditioned infertility and also in other indications.

You will be asked to recline on an elevated bed beside the ultrasound machine, and move some of your clothing aside. A clear gel is placed on your belly, which helps the ultrasound waves make contact with your body (ultrasound waves travel very poorly through air). An ultrasound transducer will be moved across your belly to create the needed images. Most women are quite comfortable during the procedure, which usually takes between 20 to 40 minutes.

Culture medium is layered on top. The specimen is left in the incubator at 37 degrees Celsius for one to two hours. The highly motile sperms will swim up into the culture medium. The enriched upper layer is then removed and sent to the clinic where it is flushed into the uterus using a flexible catheter. This procedure is performed during the time of ovulation in order to increase the chance of conception.

Most doctors will do an intra-uterine insemination (IUI) the day after the LH surge, or about 36 hours after it is detected. With a vaginal insemination, or an intra-cervical insemination (ICI) in someone with good fertile mucus, the day of the surge may be preferable. Insemination is a simple procedure, similar to a pelvic examination for PAP screening. Beyond simple discomfort, it is sometimes accompanied by mild uterine contractions (similar to menstrual pain), light staining and increased secretions.
