Why isn't there a thermal switch on the Fireplace Radiator™?

Fireplace Radiator : Frequently Asked Questions
There is a very good reason why there isn't a thermal switch. The switch must be on the inside of the fireplace. Units that have a thermal switch also have the blower/fan box located on the inside of the fireplace. This means that the electrical power cord must be ran inside of the fireplace also. This can be very dangerous. Not to mention blower/fan boxes on the inside of fireplaces have shorter life spans because they get gummed up from ash and dust.

How easy is it to remove the ashes from my fireplace after installing the Fireplace Radiator™?

Fireplace Radiator : Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend using a shovel, from your fireplace tool set, to get most of the ashes from in between the pipes and around the outside of the pipes. Use the Radiator (plenum) as a back stop to help scoop the ashes on to the shovel. For a more thorough cleaning, use a shop vac for the final touches. The Front Air Diverter Bar rests flush up against the outside of your fireplace and does not interfere with the cleaning of your fireplace.

Why does my skin sometimes have a "burnt skin" smell after tanning?

Sun Splash Tans - Hawaii's Premier Indoor Tanning Salon
The smell is NOT burnt skin at all. This "after tan" odor that some get is caused by a friendly bacteria that lives on the surface of the skin. The smell is a result of the bacteria getting hot on the skin. Most of the indoor tanning lotions we carry include both antibacterial ingredients to eliminate the odor and fragrances to minimize the after-tan odor.

What's that foul, burnt smell coming in the vents at stoplights?

_2
First, be sure you don't have the oil leak problem mentioned above. If not, You may have a problem with oil leaking from the O-ring seal around the tailshaft. It drips onto the Y-pipe and burns off with the odor being sucked into the ventilation system. Reports of replacing the seal (part # 8673526) and bushing (part # 6260048) seem to fix the problem. Check with your dealer as these parts are supposed to have been improved/upgraded.

Can the gas fireplace be installed in a bedroom?

Fireplaces
Yes. Most building codes allow the installation of a gas fireplace in a sleeping room as long as it is a sealed combustion, direct vent model. Your decision really comes down to whether heat or aesthetics is your number one priority. If heat is your first concern, or the existing wood fireplace has had a history of down drafting (smoking), you should purchase a gas insert.
