Please download the flash program "XXXXXXXX" and the lastest firmware, close all running programs, then excute "XXXXXXXX" and specify the firmware file, follow the instructions showen on screen and update will complete after shutdown your system and reboot. It is very likely to be resulted from lower DAE capability of the CD-ROM, we suggest to record in lower speed, or extract CD track to hard drive before recording.

This is an optical drive that will write both DVDs (Digital Versatile Disk, Data or Video) and CDs. The LightScribe DVD+/-RW / CDRW combination drive can read, write and, using the appropriate media, rewrite a variety DVD and CD media, including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD+RW and DVD-RW. DVD+R, DVD-R and CD-R media are compatible with this drive but are a single write media. The DVD+RW, DVD-RW and CD-RW media can be written to multiple times.

It is not definitely necessary to update the firmware unless your computer does encounter any problem.

First, you will need the SDLT Update utility from Quantum. You can get it Here You will need one SDLT tape that you can write the firmware upgrade file to the tape. Some motherboards have an issue sending data to a CDR/DVD if these drivers are not updated. If you have a writing problem, this is one of the first things you should check. I've never heard of CD-RW drive that can read DVD discs...which doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one. I would do an internet search of the CD drive model you have to see what it can, in fact, read. I would assume, however, that no CD drive will read DVDs.

However, if you don't, you simply use your PC to transfer the data from our CD-ROM to your PA1X via USB. No. Your computer's CD-R/RW drive or "burner" can only make CD-R and CD-RW discs. They cannot possibly create any of the recordable DVD discs. To create recordable DVD discs, you will need a dedicated DVD drive for the appropriate recordable DVD format (e.g., DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, or DVD-RAM).

FreeBSD supports any ATAPI-compatible IDE CD-R or CD-RW drive. For FreeBSD versions 4.0 and later, see the manual page for burncd(8).
