Can it be used for cathedral ceilings?

Foam FAQ's
Yes. In cathedral ceiling applications, our foam system does not promote deterioration of the existing roof sheathing because it does not allow condensation at the foam/deck interface. Some traditional insulation systems have high water absorption and hold moisture against the underside of the sheathing. Our foam system can be applied without roof ventilation because it is fully adhered and air impermeable. Moisture does not condense between the insulation and the sheathing.

What would you recommend for my flat roof?

Kulp's of Stratford | Learn More
We recommend a light-colored, thermoplastic membrane for almost all flat or low-sloped roofs, whether a small porch roof or a large commercial building. "Thermoplastic" means that the membrane is heat-welded together at the seams, providing an almost monolithic roof covering, assuming the those welds are held to high quality-control standards. Some other roof membranes rely on adhesives or tapes for bonding at the seams, which tend to fail over time.

What is the best way to ventilate a cathedral ceiling?

FAQ - Insulation and Weatherization
Cathedral ceilings should have continuous soffit vents and a ridge vent to allow air circulation between the insulation and the underside of the roof. Insulation should be installed with at least 1 inch of clearance from the underside of the roof. There are plastic baffles available that can be used to maintain this air space. A continuous vapor retarder is also recommended to minimize migration of water vapor into the insulation.

I have high ceilings and skylights. Will a space heater be effective in those rooms?

Bed Bath & Beyond FAQ's

Question 15: How do I use the tables in Question 12 if I have cathedral ceilings?

Home and Building Products - Ventilating Fans
Tables A, B, and C are based on eight foot ceilings. You can calculate the volume of the space (length x width x average ceiling height) and compare it to the volume of the listed room sizes to see which fan you should use. A simple rule of thumb is to just upsize the fan one model for a 10-14 foot ceiling and go up to sizes for higher ceilings.

Do you need venting in cathedral ceilings for Spray foam?

MasterFOAM Insulation Company
No, fiberglass needs venting because air flows through it and venting keeps it dry. With spray foam you do not need venting because the air does not flow through it and it is a moisture barrier as well! Unvented Cathedral Roofs Back to Top

Yes, ceiling fans can be installed on angled or vaulted ceilings by using a fan canopy (the "cap" visible closest to the ceiling which covers the electrical box) which has been designed to accommodate sloped ceilings. Many quality fans will include this type of adjustable canopy, like Hunter's Installer's Choice? and HandsFree? Canopy systems, but if not included with the fan at original purchase, accessory canopy adapters are sold separately at retail outlets.

Do you install dropped ceilings versus a drywall ceiling?

Basement Finishing Twin Cities MN
No. We do not install this type of ceiling. The only advantage is the ability to run wires from room to room. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages, though.
