You can drive anything you want here, but I'd get a used car, something you won't mind if it gets scratched up in an accident. The about 60% to 70% of the roads here are very narrow, very steep, full of potholes, bumps, and in some places, very slick when it rains, or gets flooded, I recommend a Jeep, like a Suzuki Sidekick, 4-wheel drive and high off the ground comes in handy going over rocks and/or steep dirt roads and driveways (especially if we get a heavy rain, this is the tropics).
