Canon recommends and supports the PowerShot cameras only with it's own cards, however some other CompactFlash cards do indeed work. CAUTION: Not all CompactFlash cards are equal, the variations in read/write speeds is one factor, also consider the different power consumptions. We have even heard of 5volt and 3.3volt cards, though the standard covers both in the same card. For example we have successfully tried a 45MB Sandisk card in a PowerShot 600, and a PowerShot A5.

All VIA mainboards accept our CompactFlash adapters. The case determines which adapter you should use. The VIA EPIA MII and MS mainboards accept CF cards through their onboard CF readers. The VIA EPIA MII mainboards cannot boot CF cards using the built-in CF reader, but the VIA EPIA MS mainboards can.

The PowerShot Pro70 is the first PowerShot to feature a hotshoe for flash units. Canon recomends the Speedlite 220EX and 380EX units be used, and so far these are the only models that successfully work with the exposure metering of the camera. Other flash units - including Canon's - do not work with the E-TTL flash metering, and only give maximum flash output.

Vac trucks produce much higher suction pressures and airflow than are needed by the Vacu-Boom; however the booms are equipped with adjustable air bypass valves. These valves can be adjusted to allow boom operation with any high volume vac system.

If you decide on an IDE-CompactFlash adapter plus CompactFlash card solution, you will need to choose the correct adapter. Logic Supply carries a range of adapters allowing customers to use CompactFlash cards to create solid-state systems. (See Accessories.) Casetronic cases require specific adapters. Other cases will take the 2G, the 1E, or the 5H. The 2G mounts in place of a notebook HD. (Note: to use the 2G, you will need a Notebook HD to IDE Converter (2.5" to 3.5").

While traditional computer systems typically use hard disk drives for storage of data and programs, solid-state systems instead rely on devices without moving parts. The solid-state advantage is the decreased chance of hardware failure, especially in harsh environments. Solid-state systems can be constructed by substituting flash memory for hard disks.

The latest drivers for the PowerShot A5 are 32bit drivers and support Windows 95/98/NT4 as standard. This driver also communicates with the PowerShot 350 camera via the serial port by simply selecting the camera model from the top left corner drop down box. We have discovered that if you put a standard hotshoe to PC adapter on the Pro70, AND select an aperture from the menu, the shutter speed of 1/90 is automatically chosen. We have also had some users who have even had success with their existing infra-red flash triggers on the Pro70! Please note that even with the Speedlite 380EX and 220EX units, in aperture mode the camera does not control the flash output, you only get full flash output.

PS600 B/W text mode uses the individual CCD pixels to record each pixel in the image file, using only the luminosity component. There is no need for colour calculation so the detail in B/W text mode images should actually be higher for B/W text mode images. Under this case there is little benefit in choosing the amount of compression.

Flash memory can be erased and rewritten millions of times, but technically it does wear out and fail with extensive use. Very old flash technology would wear out after tens of thousands of erases, but modern CompactFlash lasts much longer. The lifespan of CompactFlash memory is so extremely long that it's going to fail in some other way before it wears out or becomes landfill.

Both cards use the same connector and so Type I can be used in a Type II socket but not the other way round.

The reader supports any CompactFlash card bearing the CompactFlash or CF trademarks, regardless of the card's capacity or it's manufacturer.

Answer: NT can view a maximum partition size of 2 terabytes (or 2,199,023,255,552 bytes), however there are limitations that restrict you well below this number. FAT has internal limits of 4 GB due to the fact that it uses 16-bit fields to store file sizes, 2^16 is 65,536 with a cluster size of 64 KB gives us the 4 GB. HPFS uses 32-bit fields and can therefore handle greater sized disks, but the largest single file size is 4 GB.

The larger the bag or bin, the more documents you can shred before making a trip to the dumpster. The increase in productivity is significant when measured over the life of the shredder.

Yes and no! Again, it depends on where you are using them. Posters have reported problems with using debit cards, both on and off the resort. While you can use a credit card at many of the places you shop or visit, folks have said that you may pay a “fee” for doing so. Recommendation—take one to be on the safe side—use cash if you can. Most craft vendors, equipment rentals (parasail, jet ski, etc.) will require cash.

PowerShot A50 includes new design rule for camera file system, default, and the camera image file format, CIFF support. Both formats are similar as they define the directory structure, and the file types and formats. CIFF format files are stored in the \DC97 folder with subdirectories of \CTG... each folder holds upto fifty images, plus a small 4KB thumbnail image and any sound annotations for an image. Default format stores the images in the \DCIM folder with subdirectories \100CANON.
