Occasionally this may happen due to the nature of soy wax. The benefits of soy wax far outweigh any appearance flaws. This does not normally happen on candles that have been properly extinguished. To get your wick back, take a long grill lighter and melt the wax on the top layer until you can see the wick. Once you can see the wick, dump out the wax that you have melted with the lighter into another wax safe container, NOT into a trash can as the wax will melt the plastic.
