Our auction is set up much the same way as many 'live auctions' where the items must reach the reserve price in order to be sold. Traditionally these 'live auctions' have an opening bid less than the reserve price to initiate bidding and set a tempo for the event. This also give the participants an opportunity to place a few bids (that are not entirely serious) and get used to the auction system.

The lowest price the seller will accept for the item. Sellers are given the option of setting a reserve price when posting an item to the auction. The actual reserve price is hidden. The message (reserve price not yet met) or (reserve price met) is displayed. The seller is not required to sell the item unless the reserve price is met.

This is the lowest price at which you are willing to sell your item. Bidders don't know what the Reserve amount is. If the highest bid doesn't reach the Reserve, then you're under no obligation to sell the item. However, auction fees are not refunded. This feature lets you set a low starting price to stimulate bidding among buyers, yet ensures that the item will not be sold below a price you're willing to settle for.

The opening price established for each stock is the price at which the greatest number of securities could be matched by the system. When there is more than one price at which the maximum number of securities can be traded, the highest price will be the opening price. Time priority does not exist at the opening session except for previous day orders.

Seller sets starting price for each auction. Tip: Keep in mind that you want people to start the bidding. Probably one of the biggest drawbacks a seller can make is listing an item at too high an opening bid. This discourages potential bidders from tracking the auction or placing a bid and they move onto a similar item. This being said however, do not choose a starting price for less than you are willing to accept for the item in case it only receives one bid.

Yes. The reserve price is the minimum amount the seller is willing to accept. Ocean Tomo will work with you in determining appropriate sale and reserve prices, however ultimately the reserve price is decided by the seller. Reserves remain confidential.
