Inside the switch is a small magnet. As the switch is moved forward the magnet slides over and activates a reed switch mounted on the circuit board inside the flashlight. When the reed switch is activated (or closed) energy in the capacitor flows through the LED. Some Marshall amplifiers are equipped with a Loop Level switch located on the rear panel (Fig. 3.1); normally right next to the Effects Loop jacks. That that switch does is simply change the shift points on the transmission. when you've got it in power mode, it sill downshift easier (with less gas at a certain speed), and it will up-shift at higher rpm than the other mode. There's no real "auto" mode, it's simply the center position on the switch.. but we'll call it "auto" for the sake of consistency.. nothing wrong with calling it that anyway.
