Due to the alcohol content in the diffusers, the fragrance evaporates into the air via the porous reed sticks. Flipping the sticks controls the amount of fragrance in your space.

Introduced in the 80's, these products are nothing magical and are no better than the soil you install them in. They are simply be another design for a drainfield. Several of these designs are questionable in their method of operation. Some of these systems are designed to operate without a gravel bottom, which in our opinion is not recommended. A harder reed can give the sound more support in the upper register. Altissimo notes are easier to play. If the reed is too soft, the higher notes are the first to suffer and have kind of a flat, buzzy, thin sound. When you use a harder reed there are more harmonics in the sound. Simply remove the closed wood cap and replace with open wood cap by screwing firmly onto the bottle. Insert all of the sticks inside the bottle and flip initially to saturate, then as needed for desired intensity. Use care when handling the diffusers near an open flame or finished surfaces. Flash diffusers soften the impact of flash to provide more even lighting. They also reduce the intensity of the light source as they diffuse/spread the light. For close work like for macros, the reduced light output reaching the subject can avoid saturating the subject with too much light. Perhaps the most critical component in the engine -- the reed valve, should be made from high-carbon spring steel (sometimes known as C1095). You can use regular steel shim but it's nowhere near as strong as proper spring steel so valve life will be dramatically less. Don't even think about using aluminum to make a reed-valve -- not only won't it be strong enough to resist the pressures created by combustion but it will melt away very quickly. No. The reed valves used in regular piston-engines operate in an entirely different environment. They are never exposed to the heat of combustion and spend their time being fanned by a cool breeze and sprayed with cold fuel droplets as they sit in the intake or crankcase of the engine.
