A domiciliary hostel provides long-term, supervised accommodation for adults with psychiatric or related disabilities who require supervision of their daily living activities. The Community Services and Housing Department helps eligible hostel residents by providing financial support for board and lodging and a monthly personal needs allowance while they remain in the hostel.

Domiciliary Hospitalisation is a state where a person/patient is unwell that he/she requires medical attention at home itself because he/she is not in a position to go the hospital or there is no Place in the Hospital. The Community Services and Housing Department does not operate any domiciliary hostels. Domiciliary hostel beds are made available through agreements with private home operators.

Under Mediclaim, the limit of compensation is low and for certain diseases like asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, epilepsy, etc it is not available. Mediclaim covers pre-hospitalisation (limited up to 30 days) and post-hospitalisation (limited to 60 days from discharge) expenses also if they are connected with the sickness / accident for which the hospitalisation takes place.

Yes. When you reserve online you pay an initial deposit only, not the full accommodation fee. This holds the bed for you. When you get to the hostel, you'll pay the balance, either with cash, credit card, etc., depending on the hostel (check with the hostel itself to see what forms of payment they accept).
