When I went to the American Citizen service hour in April, the question was asked, what if you could not make the interview. The person there answered that they strongly suggested that you do everything possible to make the interview date. They said that if you could not make it, then you would be put at the end of the waiting list. So it could mean waiting another 3-6 months for the next interview slot.

On the day of the visa interview you will be required to purchase an envelope for the return of your documents once visa processing has been completed. The fee for the courier service is ?9.50; payable by debit or credit card or in cash.

Yes, you can bring all of your I-20s to the interview, but you will need to have identified, and paid the USD $100 SEVIS fee, for the academic institution that has accepted you. You must bring the I-20 for the school you plan to attend.

The applicant is the only person allowed into the U.S. Consulate for a visa interview. Relatives, friends, co-workers, employers, lawyers, etc. will not be allowed into the building. Parents or legal guardians are advised to accompany any minor child (age 17 and under) to the appointment if the child is applying for a tourist visa. Children under age 14 do not have to appear in person.
