It depends. A few instructors have a large enough operation to have equipment available for students to use; however, there are many excellent instructors who can't afford to maintain "school" equipment for everyone (instructing is a part time business for most). Being successful with an R/C Helicopter requires dedication and patience. One of the reasons that model helicopters are difficult is because the very first maneuver that you're going to learn is an advanced maneuver... hovering! All "successful" helicopter flights start and end with a hover and that is one of the keys, being able to successfully control your machine in a hover. You can take lessons from any age but will not be able to 'log' any flying training until you are fourteen years of age. previously mentioned, 90% of our PPL students elect to training on the PA38 Tomahawk but we do also have C150's and PA28's that you can train on. Make sure there's plenty of room to perch, explore, and flap wings. As she gets older, she'll need to practice grasping things, and perching on branches (or dowels, or ladder rungs, or chair backs).
