Yes, the ridge vent must have at least an equal amount of soffit ventilation to balance the airflow. There can be more soffit ventilation, but NEVER less soffit ventilation then ridge ventilation. See our General Installation Instructions for examples of different soffit vent configurations.

The ridge vent should not be used with other roof mounted or gable end vents. They can disrupt the air flow through the attic. A properly setup ridge/soffit vent system does not need to have power roof vents to help move hot air out of the attic. Whole house fans work great with a ridge/soffit vent system. Typically, we recommend that you place a large louvered vent opposite the door, towards the top of the greenhouse. If you then place two or more base vents low to the ground (on either side of the door, for example), you get a natural ground- up ventilation. This shrink wrap can burn. If heat is applied incorrectly, shrink wrap can ignite into open flame. It can also drop down on to other combustible material and cause secondary ignition and fire. If at any time you observe the shrink wrap on fire, immediately stop what you are doing and carefully inspect the area where you are working for a possible fire. We recommend one lower vent, starting at about 4" off the floor, somewhere near the Sauna heater, and a second vent on any other wall about 6" below the ceiling. They upper vent may also be put in the ceiling if there is adequate air flow. Venting is not a safety issue; vents only make it more comfortable for the bather.
