The simple answer is that .sht files aren't MIDI files. The .sht extension is short for .shtml, which is the normal extension for html files that contain server-side features. Many servers (like the one I use) are configured to work with truncated, three-character extensions to accomodate name length limitations for files prepared in DOS or Win3.x environments (like the one that HymnSite.com was originally prepared with!). Instead of trying to play an .

OrganAssist is designed for the purpose of easy recording, editing and playback on multiple instruments. Once a file is exported to MIDI this is no longer possible. However, the editing features of OrganAssist may not meet all needs (particularly notation) and so an Export MIDI function is provided for this purpose.

There have been so many questions on this, follow this link some "How To" pages to help you edit MIDI files using the Jazz++ midi sequencer, which is available on the web as freeware (at least it is as of February 2002). Even though the registered MIME type for MIDI files is audio/midi, some browsers are not set up to recognize it as such; instead, they look for audio/x-midi. There are two things you can do to address this: Configure your browser to treat documents of type audio/midi correctly. This is the type that Apache sends by default. This may not be workable, however, if you have many client installations to change, or if some or many of the clients are not under your control.

Unfortunately ViPlay (DirectShow) only support versions of QuickTime equal and prior to 2.0. Try to search for a filter in the internet. Good luck!

Not easily. I don't know what browser you're running (or what version), and I don't know what sort of computer set-up you have. Do you have a sound card? Do you have the proper plug-ins? You might try asking the tech support people at your ISP; they answer questions like this all day every day and will probably be much more helpful than I could ever hope to be.

Our included CD-Recorder 4 Basic will allow you to convert .MID (MIDI) files to .WAV (Wave) files so that you can use them in our software. You can find this command on the "List" menu or by clicking on the button of the piano keyboard keys. Refer to the CD-Recorder 4 Basic Help files for more information on converting MIDI files to WAVEs.

We've found a MIDI software package that works with Videum - WinnGroove.. Install WinGroove as playback devices in the Windows Device Manager. If selected as a virtual device, either will play back MIDI files through a sound card of your choice. WinGroove is shareware by Hiroki Nakayama. It sounds identical to the Roland software, plus it has the advantage of letting you select the sound card you want to use--a key benefit if you have both Videum and a soundcard installed.

The included CD-Recorder V3 allows you to convert MIDI (*.mid) files that you've recorded, or downloaded from the Internet, into the WAVE format. This is necessary to put this type of audio onto a standard audio CD. You can also play MIDI files with this software, but you cannot record it, in the conventional sense.

Can you hear anything while playing back in Media Player? Check both Wave and MIDI playback. If you cannot hear anything - check your volume settings in Windows (Standard "Volume control" dialog can be called by pressing "Mixer Settings" button on WIDI toolbar). Also, make sure that your computer speakers are turned on, their volume is not set to zero and all necessary cables are connected. Please note, that Windows has separate volume controls for Wave and MIDI.

If you don't want to add a description (which would be nice, so that people know what they're listening to), you can add extra space in the description field using paragraph tags.
