It is not a good idea, unless it is recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer, or you have changed the wheels. Fitting a wider tyre on the same rim often deforms the natural profile of the tyre and can therefore cause adverse handling problems. We always want the ankle to be the closest measurement, since this is where the compression is the highest. If you live in a cool climate you may find the motorcycle radiator sufficient to keep your motor cool. Most late model cars have aluminium radiators which are nice & compact & are very lightweight. Aftermarket tire sizes can (and in a lot of cases will) be different from OEM. The thing to remember is the first two numbers in the tire size are not as critical as the last number. For example: 20-11-9 -- The 20 is the tire height. The 11 is the tire width and the 9 is the wheel height.
