Who can donate?

Anyone can be a potential organ and tissue donor, from newborns to senior citizens (roughly 80 years old). Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis at the time of death and may be affected by medical/social history, cause of death, etc.

How often can I donate?

You need to wait 56 days or 8 weeks between whole blood donations to allow your red blood cells to replenish. Plateletpheresis donors need to wait 14 days or 2 weeks between donations.

Can I donate dreadlocks?

We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.

Anyone in good health, age 17 or older, may donate blood. Donors must weigh 110 ponds or more. There are some medical conditions that can temporarily or even permanently keep you from giving blood. People who have been exposed to hepatitis or the AIDS virus are not eligible to donate, nor are those with a history of cancer, or heart disease. Our donor guidelines are set to protect the donor's health and safety as well as the health of the recipient.
