Footsteps was written by Vedder as part 3 of the Mini-Opera at the same time that Chris Cornell was putting his Times of Trouble lyrics to the same Stone Gossard riff. The main Sleep Deprivation CD track contains the relaxing tones designed to influence your brainwaves and help you fall to sleep. These tones continuously resonate and "vibrate", getting slower as the recording progresses. There's also soothing music played on top of the tones, to relax you further.
