Perform a complete backup of all of you KnowledgeWorkshop data and save it on media that can be removed from the computer. Install the software on your new computer or drive. You will be able to use it for 15 days without activation. Although Kaleidescape uses high quality hard disk drives, drives do fail occasionally. On average, drives in Kaleidescape Systems fail at a rate of one or two percent per year. To prevent loss of information from a drive failure, every Kaleidescape Server uses RAID-K to store redundant information. The 3U Server also features a Hot Spare Disk Cartridge as an additional measure of data protection.

After performing the copy, the target drive may not boot due to different hardware or software configurations. Problems resulting from this will not be supported.

If Linux is already installed, you'll have to attach one of the hard drives to the DVD drive cable and basically perform a regular Linux hard drive upgrade. See the HOWTO's for more info. If you have not installed Linux yet, you'll have to consider why you need that software - you will not be able to run XBox games with an upgraded hard drive, so you're probably better off doing a hardware mod and installing Linux on the new hard drive while it's still empty. Under the right circumstances, yes.

If you try to send content from your DISH Network receiver and there is not enough space available on the PocketDISH, you’ll receive a pop-up message. You will have to delete programs before you can send any more. No, the content can only be sent from a DISH Network DVR to the PocketDISH. The content cannot be transferred back to your DVR or to another DISH Network DVR.

Windows: By default, the preferences are stored in HKCU/Software/BitWise Chat/BitWise. Optionally, you may store the preferences in BitWise.ini in your home folder by pressing "Setup" prior to logging in and specifying you wish to store your preferences in that file rather than the registry. Detached mode allows you to use basic client features even when your computer cannot maintain communication with the BitWise server.

Both Netscape and Microsoft have measures in place that limit the number of cookies that will be saved on your hard drive at one time. If a new hard drive is to be installed then, you can use FDISK, a DOS program that comes with Windows to partition the drive. The drive requires active partitions prior to any formatted for installation of any given operating system. As stated previously, partitioning could be initiated by reinstalling Windows. Delete the current partition and reassign the drives. Make sure that no required data is on the disk as this will cause the loss of the data.

Ans: The problem here is that the drive has not been "initialized" or formatted yet. When you install a brand new HD into WinXP/Win2K, it gets detected in your system by the installation wizard and its drivers are installed. Normally you know this because it will inform you that a new drive has been installed and will ask you to reboot. However, upon rebooting you might not see a new drive show up in Windows Explorer.

The easiest way to migrate the Virtual Safe to a new computer is to burn the application and content files to a CD or DVD. Copy the application from old computer to the same location of the new computer. (For details see section on How do I create a back-up of my Virtual Safe?). Next, start the Virtual Safe as you normally would. (Refer to the Operating System manual to set up icon shortcuts on your desktop and menus).

If you still have your license code, you can download Telnet Magic from the web site. The license code is release dependent for the first two digits of the version level. For example, a license code for release 2.2.0 will work for releases 2.2.0-2.2.9 but it will not work with release 2.3.0, so you need to download the correct release. It is best to have your OS on a separate partition than the rest of your data. This results in less fragmentation and ensures speedy operation of your system. If your hard drive is large enough, then partitioning is probably a good idea for you. Common practice is to have at least three partitions: one ~8GB for the OS, one ~10GB for Documents and other personal files, and whatever is left for programs.

When a hard disk drive fails in a Kaleidescape System, you will still be able to enjoy all the Movies and Music in your library, but the System will not be able to import CDs or DVDs. Your Kaleidescape System will also be vulnerable to losing data from a second disk drive failure, until the first failed disk drive has been replaced and the data on it rebuilt. If you suspect that a disk drive has failed, then always call Kaleidescape Technical Support first.
