The Portfolio is a "palmtop" personal computer that is very (but not completely) compatible with the IBM PC computer systems. The base unit, when folded, is about the size of a VHS tape. It unfolds to reveal a 40 characters by 8 lines screen and a 63 key keyboard. It comes with 128k of RAM, which is divided between memory and a RAMdisk. The Liquid Crystal Display screen is very easy to read, even in poor lighting, and has contrast adjustment built into the keyboard.

The Atari that everyone knew, loved and hated is gone. On July 30, 1996, Atari merged with disk drive maker JTS with more of whimper than a bang. Don Thomas (75300.1267@compuserve.com) has written a short, insightful bit about the merger and the history leading up to it that asks more questions than it answers. The story doesn't end there, however.

It was one of the first games only machines (or console) and needed a television. It sold millions but the games were very expensive about $30-40 (more in the UK). The games were very addictive though and the machine was very popular in the States and Japan. Super Mario 3 and Zelda are still rightly seen as classics. The NES games on the GBA cartridges have been ported perfectly and are in perfect color. Young Children and Retro Gamers will love playing them.

Run by Master Sysop Ron Luks, and by Assistant sysops, Marty Mankins, Judy Hamner, and BJ Gleason, it strives to keep Portfolio users abreast with developments about the machine. It is also an Atari official support site, which means that company employees drop by on a regular basis. There are thirteen Message Sections Available in the Portfolio Forum.

All the DB25 jacks on our analog products use the standard analog audio pinout (sometimes also called the Tascam? or Mackie? pinout). Details on this can be found in the Library. The controller is the touch screen's "brain". Information from the sensor is processed and relayed to the computers CPU to activate the desired function.
