Before you can locate a claim, you must determine if the lands are, in fact, open to location. You can find this out at any BLM office. No claims can be staked in areas closed to mineral entry under certain acts, regulations, or public land orders. We refer to these as withdrawn lands. The BLM State Offices and Field Offices have appropriate surface management status maps and records for you to make this determination, and they are readily available for your inspection.

In Alaska, there are two sets of mining regulations to familiarize yourself with - state and federal. First step, is to determine the land status for the area you are interested in mining. Alaska Public Lands Information Centers can direct you to the Bureau of Land Management and the Alaska Division of Mining and Water Management.

A mining claim is a particular piece of land, valuable for specific mineral deposits to which a person asserts a possession for the purpose of developing and extracting a valuable mineral deposit. The lands remains, however, under the ownership of the United States. Citizens of the United States, or those who have delcared their intention to become such, may make mining locations. Also parents of minors may locate claims on behalf of their children.

Go to any of the BLM State Offices for more information. All questions concerning mining claims should be directed to the BLM State Office having administration over the lands in question.

If your name is on the list, identify yourself and how you are making a claim (e.g. owner, co-owner, heir, or business owner). You may need to provide your residences for the past five years, previous names and other identifying information. What Happens then? If the information you provide is a match to a name on the list, the Unclaimed Property Office will send you a claim form to fill out and return. Along with the form, you will need to submit proof of ownership.

You may file your claim at any Georgia Department of Labor Career Center. To find the office nearest to you, go to Find Us, then select Career Centers.

Bring your social security number. We cannot file your claim without it. If you received a separation notice or letter from your former employer, bring it with you when you file your claim. In some cases this will help speed up the process of determining your eligibility for benefits. You will need the names and addresses of your employers for the last 18 months, and the dates you worked at each place. Bring proof of your immigration status if you are not a citizen of the United States.

Carrier: Under FRV shipments, the day of delivery the carrier will provide you with instructions on how to file a claim with them. The instructions may address this issue. If you have any questions, you should contact the carrier. If your question was not answered, then please call the Claims Service Center. Additionally, if you file your claim within the 9-month period with the Claims Service Center, we can also forward it to the carrier so you can still be entitled to FRV coverage.

Yes, you can file a claim without our services, but the process can become very time-consuming and difficult. Most property owners are unaware or have no way of knowing who the manufacturer of the siding is. If the claim is denied, you must be given notice of the denial in writing generally within 90 days after the claim is filed.

Carrier: For claims under FRV shipment, you need to contact the carrier to determine what procedures the carrier has to check on status of your claim. The next screen will prompt you to input your lastname and SSN for authentication.

A claim is any right to payment held by a person or entity against a person or entity that files bankruptcy. The written statement filed in a bankruptcy case setting forth a creditor's claim is called a proof of claim. The proof of claim should include a copy of the documentation giving rise to the claim, as well as evidence of secured status if the claim is secured.
