If you are going to get vaccinations we recommend getting the process started at least 6 weeks prior to travel. Malaria is currently not present in the coastal areas we are visiting.

Except for crossing the road, there are no frequent or serious health hazards in Thailand. Yes, but not all types of malaria pills. Children of any age can get malaria and any child traveling to a malaria-risk area should be on an antimalarial drug. In line with Government directives, we advise parents who take up the separate vaccines that their children finish the full course of injections. We advise that all our volunteers have a travel consultation a few months prior to traveling to the Philippines, to assess what vaccinations you are up to date with and which ones you will need for the Philippines. Malaria is not a concern in Leyte, but if you plan on traveling to other areas of the Philippines, you may want to bring some anti-malarial tablets for your travels. Canine distemper: Fervac-D or Galaxy-D. Kits should get three shots, four weeks apart, with the last one no earlier than 14 weeks. Two is not enough. Then a yearly booster shot. Kits bought from a pet store will generally only have had the first shot, and still need two more. Ferrets with an unknown vaccination history of any age will need two shots three weeks apart, and then a yearly booster shot. Canine distemper is airborne, and 100% fatal to ferrets.
