I've had fairly good luck doing it in the following way. Since vinegar is the primary smell in pickles and it's acidic, we used a base to counteract it. First we scrubbed the bucket well, inside and out, with Dawn dish detergent. Most any sort will do. Then we filled the buckets with hot water and dissolved a cup of baking soda in each. A - Only use the shim supplied by Thomson. The shim is sold as an accessory and not included with the Thomson stem. Most shims are too short, which will not allow the stem to clamp properly. Also, the standard one slit shims will not tighten properly to maintain head set tightness. Thomson shims are available through your local bike store.

Most engines today have aluminum cylinder heads. Compared to the cast iron cylinder head of yesterday, aluminum is lighter but less durable. As an aluminum cylinder head overheats, it is likely to warp. This can lead to a head gasket failure and many other problems. A perfectly flat surface is required for a head gasket to properly seal, so the warped cylinder head needs to be resurfaced.
