Children are permitted to ride bicycles to school. There is a bike cage located near the bus loading/unloading zone in the rear of the school. In accordance to state law all children are required to wear a helmet while riding their bike to and from school. If a child is seen without a helmet, then the school reserves the right to detain the child in the office until a parent can pick them up or they are given permission to walk home.

Bus transportation is provided for students who live inside the Boaz City Limits. Students new to the system should call the local schools for their bus schedules.

The school bus keeps children – and the environment – safe. By providing convenient transportation for millions of school children, school buses reduce the number of cars that would otherwise be on the road. The school bus helps parents save money on gasoline, reduces traffic congestion (especially around school walking zones, where our children are most vulnerable) and also reduces the nation’s dependence on oil.

Bus service, both to and from school, is provided for students living more than two miles from the school or for those having to cross a designated hazardous street/road. At the August orientation, you will receive a schedule if your child is eligible for bus transportation. You are strongly encouraged to allow your child to ride the bus if he or she is eligible beginning the first day of school. Most Howard students love riding the bus!

Children must be in Grades 3-6 to ride a bicycle to school. They must wear a helmet while riding, but must walk the bicycle on school property. There is a rack to park and lock (required) the bicycles. NO SCOOTERS OR SKATE BOARDS ARE ALLOWED AT SCHOOL.

Also, the LTD buses are equipped to take two bicycles loaded in front of the buses, and if these are full, they can allow 2 more inside the bus when there is room. Answer- For most children, yes, although it is important that only children who can adequately ride a bike and brake by themselves be allowed to use the Tandem Rack. The main consideration in having a child in the front position is making sure the child is capable enough to set the direction of the ride.

Yes, if they qualify. Our principal will check for you. You usually qualify if you are a Dearborn resident and live more than one and a half miles from school. We follow Dearborn Public Schools for scheduling of most vacations, school hours, snow closings, etc.

Friends' Central handles communication with the public school districts regarding busing. The names of all enrolled students are forwarded to the district offices. The districts, in turn, make up the bus schedules and will notify you of pick up and drop off times. You can call the transportation office of your school district for more information.

Some children with epilepsy who do things like bike-riding and swimming get injured, but so do children without epilepsy. You need to think about how much your child's risk will be increased and decide whether that increase is acceptable. It's good for your child to do as many "normal" activities as possible.

We would suggest a tune up just prior to the ride to make sure that everything is in good working order. While training for the ride, you will have put lots of miles on your bike, so it will deserve a little TLC to make sure it is ready for Waves to Wine. You do not have to ride your own bike to be a member of Chrome Divas. We have members who prefer to be passengers as well as members who do not ride at all but wanted to join to participate in the fun and camaraderie.
