The Text Window (the black area in the lower left) shows the lyrics that ought to be synchronized with the music. If you're starting a brand new project, this window will be empty and completely black until you import lyrics or type in text directly. There are two methods to input lyrics into a new project. Input them by hand (typing) or importing a TEXT (*.txt) file into the lyrics editor. Both methods are described below.

CDG, or Compact Disc with Graphics, is a karaoke music format (or type). Other formats include, Digital Video Disc (DVD) and Video Compact Disc (VCD). CDG music, when played on a CDG player, will display the words to the song on your TV screen and change color when it is time to sing those lyrics. The song lyrics are incorporated into your DART Karaoke Author files (*.dka). If you want to save the lyrics in a separate text file, use the Export command available from the Lyrics menu. Although I don't focus on providing karaoke, I'm probably better suited for it than the average DJ because I sing quite well (in fact, I sing at wedding ceremonies if you are looking for a singer). Typically, a karaoke DJ has to "break the ice" by singing a couple songs to get other people involved. I rent karaoke equipment from fellow DJ's who have it, and I patch it into my sound system.
