Yes, just like in past installments of C&C, there will be a veterancy system that rewards the player for keeping units alive. With cranes you will be able to expand your bases easily, so you don't have to buy a horribly expensive MCV, next to that there will be some unique units which gain power from Ion storms (and possibly Tiberium).

Command & Conquer 3 is the latest game in the Tiberian universe and the sequel to Tiberian Sun. It has been announced in the June 2006 issue of PC Gamer. Although it has the same title, this is not the game developed by Westwood Studios after the release of Tiberian Sun. The SAGE engine, first used in Generals, then in Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2. It was originally developed by Westwood Pacific. This engine will be heavily updated and some of the new features that you can expect are new particle effects (used in explosions, weather effects, dust, smoke...) and improved pathfinding. EA will use an enhanced and upgraded version of the SAGE engine (Strategy Action Game Engine). This was the same engine that provided the legendary "feel" of Generals and Zero Hour, and the stunning graphics of Battle for Middle Earth and Battle for Middle Earth 2. This latest revision is looking to incorperate the best of both worlds.

Our guess is for quite some time. During our visit to EALA in August, 2005 we were not allowed to visit certain floors of the studio. Given the massive size of the studio it's unlikely that the whole thing was being dedicated to the development of BFME 2. It's possible that the game was at LEAST in the planning stages in August 2005, probably earlier than that. EA has re-worked their definition of "polish" and we're going to see a return of full motion videos with live actors.
