Do Eicon support ADSL over ISDN?

FAQ's
Eicon has demonstrated ADSL over ISDN operation using the G.992.2 Annex B standard. Currently shipping products do not support ADSL over ISDN. The reason is that an ADSL connection may share the standard telephone wiring, however, ADSL itself is only connected to the Internet. Since a Diva ADSL modem only accesses the ADSL connection, it too is only connected to the Internet.

Do you support cable modems, ISDN, ADSL and T-1?

betpad.com Home -
Yes. Connection speed is dependent on your access provider, but high-speed internet connections are not required to access the BetPad.com service.

Why can't I get ADSL? I have ISDN, can I get ADSL?

Alpha Telecom FAQ Page
You will be able to get ADSL if the local exchange supports ADSL and you order an analogue telephone service (extra charge) to be used for the ADSL service. This service would be charged a standard telephone line rental. How many IP addresses do I get with my ADSL service? You will receive at least one static IP address with your ADSL order.

What is ISDN and why would I use ISDN instead of ADSL ?

www.draytek.com.au -
Basic ISDN effectively converts your telephone line to digital with two 'channels', each of which can carry a telephone conversation or data at 64Mb/s. When neither phone line is in use, the data channels can be combined to give 128Mb/s, which puts it at the bottom end of "Broadband". The drawback of ISDN is its price - Telstra have considered it a premium business service, and have priced it out of the reach of residential users.

Can I upgrade from ISDN to MangoSurf.net ADSL?

ADSL and SDSL broadband Internet access, hosting and domains...
Yes, however the line has to be re-graded to an analogue line, and BT charge to do this, you are also liable for any terms left on the ISDN contract. Once the line has been regraded, it will be checked for suitability for ADSL. There is a chance the line is not suitable and BT will charge to convert it back to ISDN.

I have ISDN lines, can I have ADSL?

FAQ
ADSL can’t be installed on ISDN lines, so either you need a separate new (analogue) phone line or for the ISDN to be converted back to an analogue service.

How does ADSL compare to ISDN?

RUCC DSL
ADSL offers a cheaper and faster service than ISDN. ISDN works by providing two voice channels or a 128 Kbps data channel while ADSL is predominantly a data pipe providing an asymmetrical bandwidth of up to 6 Mbps downstream and 640 kbps upstream. However, the ADSL network is an overlay network and therefore does not require the expensive and time-consuming switch upgrades that held ISDN back for so long.

Do you support ISDN?

Internet Access | Dialup Internet | Faq
Yes, you can connect to the Cinergi Pay As You Go Internet service using an ISDN line. Note that during normal operation ISDN (BRA) lines can handle 2 simultaneous calls, you may be charged for 2 calls during times when extra bandwidth is required e.g. when visiting complex web sites with lots of moving graphics or viewing video. (ISDN lines can be restricted to use one line only, you will need to contact Eircom and request this restriction.)

Why isn't the Diva 2430 ADSL Modem listed on some Eicon regional product pages?

FAQ's
Bridged protocols were frequently chosen by 'early-adopter' ADSL service providers; many later implementations chose to use 'routed' protocols like PPPoA If only routed protocols are used by all available ADSL services in a country or territory, then Eicon does not offer the Diva 2430 ADSL Modem in that country or territory. Example: in the UK, all current ADSL services use PPPoA, so the 2430 is not used in the UK. However, since the 2430SE supports PPPoA it is used in the UK.

Q05: What are the differences between ADSL & ISDN?

Prolink Support
The two services are NOT the same. ISDN provides two voice channels or a 128 Kbps data channel while ADSL is predominantly a data pipe providing an asymmetrical bandwidth of up to 8 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream under good conditions. However, an ADSL access network will be an overlay network and therefore will not require the expensive and time-consuming switch upgrades that held ISDN back for so long.

Can both the ADSL and ISDN interfaces be used at the same time ?

www.draytek.com.au -
You cannot use both WAN interfaces to connect to internet (via the same ISP or different ISP's) at the same time, as the router wouldn't know which internet connection you wanted. But you can have the ADSL connected to the Internet and use the ISDN for a dial-in teleworker or a VPN to a branch office. Technically speaking, where the ISDN is being used to route to a specific directly-dialled subnet. If you have a remote office or teleworker which only has ISDN (i.e.

Is this like Cable modems, ISDN, or ADSL?

Wireless Web Access - FAQ
Most of these services are not available in our service areas. Cable Modems, ISDN, and ADSL are all dependent on physical wires, and a middle man (i.e., the phone company). With Wireless Internet Access, you are dealing with no wires and directly with the ISP; there is no middle man. There are also speed factors. Click here to see a chart on speed comparisons.

Q24. How can I know if I need ADSL or ISDN?

top2
Flat rate charging ISDN is essential if your application is video conferencing over switched PSTN numbers. ISDN also provides the ability of having 2 phone lines on the same copper loop, which is not possible with ADSL.

What is ISDN service, do you support it?

ISP.com Your Internet Service Provider
ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network. Unlike dial-up which gives you various speeds, ISDN gives you a constant 64k speed. However to use it, you must have a digital phone line from your phone company and digital modem. There is an additional fee applied by your phone company and setup costs for the modem. There is no addition cost from ISP.com . ISP.com does support 64k however we do not support the use of 128k on our network.

How fast is ADSL compared to normal dial-up, ISDN and DIAS connection ?

NE-II Telecom Circle -- BROADBAND FAQ
If you are using a connection with 1 Mbps down load speed then you are having a speed that is 17.5 times faster that normal dial-up and about 8 times faster than DIAS & ISDN.

Q What is ISDN?

Internet Texoma FAQ
A ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Networks. It is an all-digital, circut-switched telephony system that is an alternative to analog modems, although both can operate over regular copper telephone lines. What this means for you is faster, more reliable connections. ISDN comes in two different speeds, 64k and 128k. Many of the problems that exist with normal analog modems which operate over POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) do not exist with ISDN.
