GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. GIS on our site is a collection of spatially similar data. In other words, it is a collection of different layers that occur in Outagamie County. Parcels, roads, rivers, addresses and so on are all different layers that occur in the same geographic location. They can be turned on and off to display different features for an individual parcel or for multiple parcels.

That depends on which layer you are referring to. Layers that change often such as parcel lines, parcel text, addresses, road centerlines, etc. Are updated as quickly as the information is filed and processed. planimetric Layers (Building footprints, edge of pavement, sidewalks, etc.) were originally captured from a 1999 aerial flight. It's not easy. Where possible, use 1997 data that are already presented by SIC in Comparative Statistics. Under half of all 4-digit SIC categories have direct NAICS counterparts or can be reconstructed by adding whole NAICS codes together. Another group can be approximated within 3 percent of sales using whole NAICS codes. You can identify which these are by looking for the or symbols in the Bridge Between NAICS and SIC. Features are updated on a daily basis, roads are updated on a bi-annual (twice a year) basis, city limits are updated on an annual (once a year) basis, zip codes are updated on a biennially (every other year), land use are updated every five years, and Census data are updated every ten years.
