Map scales are set automatically by CC3. The value is stored in the drawing. You can view and change the default set scale in the Drawing Properties dialog (File >> Drawing Properties). The recommended scale for overland maps is (map width/1000), so for a map that is 500 miles wide, symbol scale should be set to 0.5. Most of our data are collected at a scale of 1:2,000,000 and are intended for use at national or large regional scales. In the Map Maker, a bar scale appears under the map. If your printer output scale is set to 100%, the maps will print out at the standard sectional scale of 1:500,000. You should be able to use your plotter tool, etc. to work with the printed map, but it is a good idea to print a sample and measure it to insure your scale is correct.

The vast majority of SpecPrint’s Real Estate Directories use ½ scale for tax maps. That means easy calculations for you: simply use the per inch scale already printed on the map, and multiply by 2. The map in Exalted: The Dragon-Blooded includes a line labeled "This line is 640 miles," but it's unclear exactly how we're supposed to measure the line, since it is curved. However, the straight-line distance between the two endpoints is exactly two inches, and you can verify that a scale of 1 inch:320 miles preserves the Blessed Isle's dimensions (as determined from the map in the main book) reasonably well.
