Glass is a widely recycled item. Unbroken containers are the best, and clear glass is the most valuable. Do not recycle: Pyrex, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs, plate glass, or tableware. Broken glass is difficult and dangerous to sort. Plastic containers should be marked with a recycling code in the form of a number. The most widely accepted plastics are numbers 1 and 2. Some areas also restrict plastic based on its shape or color.

People generally report that glass provides about 10% better performance than plastic. And there is reason to believe that under windy conditions, glass is preferred since it doesn't flap in the wind and dissipate heat from the cooker. Aluminum cans are better on the environment than glass bottles. For example, making cans from recycled aluminum cuts related air pollution by 95%, whereas making glass from recycled materials reduces air pollution by only 20%. Aluminum is much lighter than glass to ship and consequently reduces stress on the environment, such as gas required to fuel trucks, materials necessary to handle the load of glass, and extra emissions from freight vehicles due to weight.

By processing scrap metal into briquettes, they have a greater yield when recycled. Briquettes have several advantages for the melter (foundry or smelter) that translate into more value. In addition to being able to recycle #1 and #2, you can now recycle plastics with the numbers 3,4,5 and 7 at Moscow recycling center. In the past, these plastic containers could not be accepted there because there was no market for the recycling center to sell them. However, this market has recently come available to Moscow's Recycling Center. Please continue to be thoughtful about the containers you purchase.
