Informal consultation is an optional process that is designed to help the applicant and the action agency determine whether formal consultation is needed. It includes all discussions, correspondence, etc., between the Services, the action agency, and the applicant, and has no specified timeframe for completion.

After the initial review of a Case, the Board may vote to invite that psychologist to attend an Informal Interview. The Board's statutes use the term "Informal Interview" for the interview before the full Board that may result in resolution of the Case other than through a "Formal Hearing."
