Can Formica be painted?

Formica should be thoroughly washed with powdered detergent, and then primed with XIM - UMA Primer (according to instructions on container). XIM Primer is available through most good independent paint merchants, or can be ordered from Phillips. After allowing the UMA primer to dry for 3 or 4 hours it should be sanded glass-smooth with a very fine paper - 220 or higher.

How do I stencil on fabric?

Do this by using a light coat of spray adhesive on a piece of cardboard that is about 2" larger than the piece of fabric you want to stencil.

Buy some Dylon Hand Dye (Woolworths sell it along with their sewing stuff) and a bag of cooking salt. Then get hold of an old bucket or bowl, a pair of rubber gloves and a clean wooden stick (the bowl, gloves and stick will be stained afterwards).
