Two coats of Poolpoxy II coated over a clean fiberglass surface that has been scratch sanded with an 80-grit sandpaper. Your first coat of Poolpoxy II can be considered your primer coat with the second coat being your finish coat.

I design all my blends with aging in mind. Barbary Coast, being based on Burley, is probably the blend that will benefit least from long cellaring, though the flavors WILL continue to meld over several years, and there's enough virginia leaf, as well as perique, to afford some significant change. The cigar leaf in Robusto may peak after 5-7 years, but the Virginias and oriental leaf will continue to develop increased complexity. A simple test can determine weather it is a rubber base coating or an epoxy coating (the most-used pool coatings). Pour a small amount of Nelsonite's Solvent 150 (or a solvent such as xylene) on a flat portion of the coated pool surface. Let the solvent sit for 30 seconds, and then rub the area with a rag. If the coating comes off, it is a rubber base coating. The solvent will not affect epoxy coatings in any way. See similar questions...

concrete Concrete CONCRETE! A spa must sit on a base that will maintain flatness throughout the life of the spa. The base of a spa must be supported evenly and anything that can settle unevenly could cause the spa to crack. If a dealer says something other than concrete will work, be sure to check with the spa manufacturer to be sure you aren't voiding your warranty. We build and install both. Gunite pools are custom and more personal. They cost more and take longer to install, but we feel the added time is clearly worth it. Building a gunite pool is like building your own house, you get to pick all the details and when it is complete, you will generally feel better about it since you helped design it.
