images are at a pixel height of 600. 2005 images are at a pixel height of 768. When you click on a picture on the sample page you will see the image at 600 pixels.

If one of your images is too large, you'll have to reduce it at source before you can download. You can do this via graphics applications such as "Paint" or another application of your choice and decrease the size. Save the photo and try to send it again. Repeat as necessary.

However, how large you can print a digital image will vary greatly on how you are outputting it, what your target resolution is and what kind of hardware you are outputting it with. The composition, sharpness and amount of detail in the image itself will also affect your output size.

Each uploaded image is restricted to 250 pixels wide. There is no height restriction per se. However, if you make your photographs too high, the printer friendly version of your Family Calendar might not fit on one page. It all depends on what kind of printer is being used and the combination of how many family events and holidays you have on any given month.

Make sure the images you upload are large enough resolution. At least 550 pixels along the longest dimension. Also, make sure your computer is not running any kind of "accelerator" programs. These programs are most common with aol and earthlink and "speed up" your download speed by reducing image quality.

We spend a lot of time cleaning up the photographs before we post them on our site, and we seem to be doing a good job because we see our pictures on a lot of other web sites. If someone is going to steal our images we should at least get credit for them. We don't mind people linking to our large images (free advertising), but if they link to a smaller one we'll swap out the graphic with something else that they may not like as much.

We do not allocate memory in image sized chunks and copy individual rasters as needed to avoid paging, but we wouldn't like to analyse a full satellite image (ie: linear dimensions > several thousand pixels) without an extra memory buffer.

Because this is how images are stored in RTF files. The Rich Text Format, designed by Microsoft, is capable of storing images (or other embedded data), but it does so in a very inefficient way. Regardless of the format of the original image (BMP, JPEG, GIF, etc.) the image is internally converted to an uncompressed bitmap. Depending on the size, number of colors and resolution of the image, even a relatively small picture may grow to one or more megabytes when inserted into a KNT file.
