There is a Justice of the Peace present at the Courthouse every Saturday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM to perform ceremonies. No appointment is necessary. The Court is located at 175 Highway 50, Stateline, NV. It is on the 2nd floor of the Douglas County Administration Building across the lobby from Tahoe General Services where you purchase your marriage license. Please refer to the Clerk/Treasurer for additional wedding ceremony information.

A justice of the peace is acceptable and binding before God. God accepts the law of the land in which we live. Romans chapter 13, verses 1-7 states our need to be under the authority of our government as long as they do not ask us to violate God’s laws. Therefore, getting married by a justice of the peace would be fine.

The traditional positions of police officer, deputy sheriff, highway patrol trooper, detective, FBI, Secret Service, and Drug Enforcement Administration special agent, criminal investigator, probation officer, corrections officer, and parole agent normally require peace officer standing. There are positions within the criminal justice profession that do not require peace officer status: deputy district attorney, assistant city attorney, assistant U.S.

To ensure fairness in all trials, the Provincial Court exclusively controls the assignment of judges to cases. If a litigant genuinely believes that a particular judge assigned to hear his or her case would not be able to do so impartially, the litigant may apply to that judge for an order disqualifying that judge from hearing the case on the grounds of a reasonable apprehension of bias. These applications are made in open court, and are on the record.

In order to be fair to all of our patients, we must ask you to call our office no less than 24 hours and preferably 48 hours before any appointment you cannot make. A $50.00 charge may be applied to your account if you miss an appointment, reschedule or cancel your appointment without sufficient notice.
