In ASCII mode a file may be changed slightly to maintain the meaning of EOL (End Of Line) characters. UNIX machines use a single line break character at the end of each line, whereas Windows systems use a line break and a carriage return. Some operating systems differentiate between text and binary modes. In text mode, end-of-line sequences and possibly other things are translated; in binary mode, they are not. For example, in text mode under Windows, "\r\n" is translated into "\n" on input, and the reverse on output. A 7: Importing generic ASCII or binary data into Slicer Dicer can be confusing the first time around. The main thing to remember is that Slicer Dicer imports data only, NOT coordinate values.
