Cans, bottles and jars should be placed in 20-gallon buckets and weigh no more than 25 lbs. Newspapers and Magazines should be tied with string in bundles or placed in paper bags. NEVER use plastic bags for recyclables.

Just about any waterproof, heatproof container will work. The best containers are made of glass or ceramic, and are wide enough to give the flame sufficient air to burn properly. Lots of our customers stick to refilling empty candle jars but most get really creative with bowls, mugs, teacups, ice buckets, goblets, and just about anything else you can imagine.

Candles need air to burn so we recommend that you avoid containers that are deep and narrow (such as vases intended for flowers, etc), and containers that are too shallow to provide adequate burn time. Porous materials like wood and terra cotta are not good choices as they might absorb wax and present a potential safety hazard. We are unable to fill containers made of resins or plastics because of their sensitivity to heat.

Place the glass container in a pan of hot water with a trivet underneath the glass to keep it positioned off the bottom of the pan. Place the pan on your stove with the burner set at low to maintain a high water temperature. Don't Let the ?water boil unless you are absolutely sure your glass container can withstand such extreme heat. If the sides of your container are straight - you may withdraw the wax "plug" in approximately 15 minutes by pulling up on the wick.

All bottles and jars can be recycled and should be separated by colour at glass banks (blue glass should go in green glass banks). You should not place any of the following in your kerbside collection or in a glass bank as they cannot be recycled: light bulbs, Pyrex, pottery/crockery, tiles, panes of glass, safety glass or other treated/heatproof glass.
