The strength and direction of the Earth's magnetic field are constantly changing. Scientists monitor these changes and track the location of the magnetic north pole, which is not fixed at a specific geographic location. The magnetic north pole moves by a significant but variable amount from day to day and year to year (on the order of 40 kilometers or 25 miles).

You can calculate the distance from your location to the North Pole using Great Circle Navigation with two easy web calculators. First, find the latitude and longitude for the city using http://www.arrl.org/locate/locate.html. Then find the distance between any two locations using http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/2265/gcsail.htm. The result of the calcuation will appear under your inputs on the calculation website.

There are several ways to ground a Powertrusion pole. Some utilities have opted to run a ground wire inside the pole and thus eliminate the need for external attachments to the pole and the possibility of theft of the ground wire. Others have attached to the pole with ground wire clips and self-tapping screws. (See Application Guide.)

Different hammock lengths (ring to ring) will require different instructions. We can only make recommendations and you will have to tweak the installation to suit you. If your hammock is 13 feet long you will want a space approximately 15 feet apart with a foot of chain or rope at each end to adjust the hammock up or down from the ground. The hammock hooks that you hang the hammock from should be at least 4 to 5 feet off the ground.

Always allow for 10% of the height of the pole in the ground. A 30' pole is actually 33' total length, allowing for 3' in the ground. For further information please see our technical pages and installation details.

In fact, it's generally easier to find a place to hang a hammock than it is to find a flat spot to set up a ground tent.

If properly hung in a sturdy location, the full-sized hammocks can hold two normal-sized adults but are most comfortable when used one person at a time. The hammock chair is made to hold one person.

Two to three feet is ideal.. Any more than that and you run a bigger risk of the pool caving in. You always want to make sure the water level is higher than the dirt. If the pool is to far into the ground and the ground around it gets to wet it could easily cave in. It is also a good idea to wait at least two years after the pool is installed before draining it. This give the dirt around it plenty of time to pack. Even then the pool should be drained and refilled in a day or two.

The tips rotate approximately 1-1/2" from the ground. This provides for consistent cleaning of flat surfaces without the nuisance of zebra striping.

Growers typically either screw them far enough into the ground so that approximately 8-10 inches of the anchor rod are sticking out of the ground or they screw them completely into the ground, leaving the anchor eye at or slightly below ground level. The optimal distance between two trees when hanging a hammock is 15-20 feet. The minimum distance required to hang a hammock is equal to the overall length of the hammock from ring to ring.

Yes, the ground sleeve needs to be sealed with a waterproof compound to keep out water. Wet sand might make the pole shift.

Hammocks represent a portion of a network. They are defined in a similar way to activities, except that:- You must give the hammock a code and a description and may, if you wish, also assign selectcodes and milestone dates. The scope of the hammock is given by specifying a Start and Finish activity. The hammock's duration, dates and floats are all calculated from the dates of its Start and Finish activities.

No: 12X12 Light Duty and 12X12 Tower trusses look quite similar. However the construction is different. Light Duty must not be used as an upright, but Tower will function regular truss or as an upright.

No! Our plans call for a steel reinforced concrete foundation and slab. However, some folks actually go ahead and build their pole barn and use our Engineered Gambrel Truss System for their second floor roof. We do not "mail out" literature. We work very hard at maintaining our web site to keep you on top of everything we have to offer, along with frequent updates to inform you of new designs on the way. Unlike the North Pole the South Pole is inland. It is near the middle of the Great Antarctic ice sheet at an altitude of 2800 m. It is 1230 km from the nearest coast. The ice at the Pole is moving at about 10 m per year. Each year staff at the Amundsen-Scott (USA) station, at the South Pole, move the marker flag to compensate for the movement of the ice. The magnetic South Pole on the other hand doesn't have a fixed position, it drifts about continually by quite a long way.

A temporary pole is established to facilitate construction at the building site. It holds the temporary meter and will be removed upon completion and inspection.
