Three SAT II Subject Tests are highly recommended. It is recommended that you take one Math (of your choice), one Science (of your choice), and then a third of your choice.

SAT scores are used by the college admissions board to determine the general academic level of the student. The SAT II tests are designed to measure academic level within a specific subject and a student's ability to apply that knowledge. The SAT II tests are one-hour tests, primarily consisting of multiple-choice questions.

We do not have a preference. You should take the tests for which you're best prepared and best suited. If you have taken more than one test in a category, we will use the test which makes you look best. You have two options.

The SAT is designed to measure the critical thinking skills necessary to do well in college. It determines how well you analyze and solve problems. This is why SAT scores are used in college admissions - they determine the likelihood of your success in college. The Subject Tests focus on specific subjects, are primarily multiple-choice, and only take an hour to complete. Subject Tests are used to determine knowledge and skills in a particular area.

Usually, students take the SAT in the spring of their junior in high school and, if they choose, again in the fall of their senior year. Students that choose to take the Subject Tests often take them at the end of their junior year or at the beginning of their senior year. Since Subject Tests are directly related to specific subjects, it is a good idea to take a Subject Test as soon after completing its related high school course as possible.

Students entering grades K-4 are tested for Achievement and readiness. Testing information for 2008-09 school year applicants will be available on the admissions page in early October 2008. The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) is required for applicants to grades 5-12. The ISEE was developed by the Edu-cation Records Bureau and is used by over 1,100 independent schools as part of the admissions process. The test lasts approximately three hours and is offered on a variety of dates.

Go ahead and let out that sigh of relief - no, it doesn’t matter which tests you take. Take whatever tests you feel you will score the highest in. This not only depends on knowledge in that area, but also how comfortable you are with it. Even if you plan to major in Biology, but you feel you’re better in Spanish – take the Spanish test. But if you plan to major in Biology, however you feel comfortable with both Biology and US History, take the Biology test.

Committees are formed to develop the course and are comprised of educators and subject-matter experts who determine the types of questions that are asked, as well as topics that should be covered. Test developers then write the questions, which are then submitted to another committee made up of high school and college teachers and administrators. This committee then reviews the questions and makes suggestions for improving them.

Connecticut College requires the ACT (the writing component is optional) or two SAT Subject Tests. Submission of SAT Reasoning scores is optional. If your SAT Reasoning scores do not reflect your full potential, we recommend that you choose to submit only two SAT Subject Tests or the ACT. SAT II Subject Tests are optional for most students but strongly recommended. These exams can be very helpful in evaluating scholarship applicants. If you attend a high school not recognized by one of the regional accrediting associations or if you are home-schooled, you are required to take three SAT II Subject Tests, (including the writing exam and one of the math exams), in addition to the SAT I or ACT.

Selective colleges often want more test information than the SAT alone provides, so they require students to take Subject Tests. At some schools these are required and at others they are only recommended (although some of the recommendations are quite STRONG). Compass has a list of schools that currently use the Subject Tests and is compiling a more detailed description of testing requirements for popular schools.

Not as much as SAT scores, and certainly not as much as your essay, recommendation letters, or grades - but we do look at them if they are available. How important is the new Writing component of the SAT? A: Because that test is new we simply don't know how to interpret it. Therefore, we look at only the two traditional (math and verbal) parts of the SAT.

Colleges that accept the ACT tend not to require SAT Subject Tests, or at least not as many. You should contact the college's admissions office to find out their policy.

Unfortunately, we do not accept A-Level results as substitutes for SAT Subject Tests. You must submit 2 SAT Subject Tests.

The SAT Subject Tests are one-hour tests on academic subjects such as Math, Sciences, History and Languages. Whether or not your student needs to take them depends on the colleges to which the student is applying. Many college do not require SAT Subject tests. The typical testing program for an HPA student includes a total of three SAT exams, one or two ACT exams, and one or two SAT II exams taken over their junior and senior years. While the tests are offered almost every month, most juniors will take their first SAT in January and their first ACT in February. HPA registers the juniors for these two tests and covers the cost.

All applicants who have attended a U.S. high school are required to take and report all appropriate SAT 1 and SAT II exam results. If you attended a foreign high school where English was not spoken, then you may substitute TOEFL results for SAT scores. We, however, encourage you to submit SAT and appropriate SAT II scores if at all possible.
