If the surgery is uneventful, feeding can be started on the same day once the patient has recovered completely from the effects of anaesthesia, provided no procedure has been performed on the bowel.

You can start as soon as you contact the Admissions Department for an appointment, bring in the documentation requested, and complete our simple enrollment procedures. Yes, your eating habits will change following LAP-BAND® System surgery. You will find that you become full or satisfied after consuming a much smaller portion of food than you did prior to surgery. It is important that you stop eating once you feel full, as overeating can trigger pain and/or nausea. In addition, we recommend that you eat slowly and chew your food carefully.

Form patients undergoing roux-en-y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and pancreatico-biliary bypass weight loss starts from the time of surgery. The gastric band is inflated 6-8 weeks after surgery and may take a number of inflations before weight loss begins.

Since Gaviscon® works quickly (within 15 minutes), it would be all right to eat or drink again as soon as reflux symptoms subside. However, keep in mind that eating or drinking again will lessen the benefit of Gaviscon® since the foam barrier, which prevents or minimizes acid reflux, may be broken.

It is very important that you move your shoulder right after a manipulation or surgical debridement. This may involve physical therapy and a rigorous stretching/strengthening home program.

We ask for people to send us their applications by at least two months in advance of the requested first day of classes. However, we can accept applications up to a month in advance, in most cases. In this case, a 15,000 yen Express Fee is added to the total cost, to cover the extra cost required to arrange accommodation, etc. in a short time. Additionally, if you do not require accommodation, we can in some cases accept applications less than a month before the first day of classes.

If nausea causes frequent vomiting or if you are unable to tolerate anything including fluids call your clinical nutritionist or Surgeon.

Use your crutches until you are comfortable: you may be partial weight bearing immediately. You may be full weight bearing when comfortable.

Your anesthesiologist will discuss the specific details, but most patients should not ingest solid food for six hours before surgery, and clear liquids may only be taken up to four hours prior to surgery. You may brush your teeth and rinse your mouth out with water the morning of surgery, and if necessary, a pill may be taken with just a sip of water.

Normally, all supplements should be discontinued prior to surgery. This is especially true of any vitamin supplements or other products that may have blood thinning qualities. For example vitamin E and Garlic both have significant blood thinning properties. Although none of the supplements used in the cesium protocol have such properties, it is still judicious to avoid any supplements prior to surgery.

Provided you are already familiar with MBT they can be seen as a valuable tool in postoperative rehabilitation. It is advisable, however, that they are not worn until 6 - 8 weeks post operatively as the potential risk of a fall in this period would dislodge the artificial joint. It is recommended that MBTs be used post-operatively in conjunction with supervision provided by a rehabilitation specialist such as a physiotherapist.
