Question: How does AMVIC compare to concrete block or poured wall construction?

FAQ
When cured, the concrete in AMVIC walls is 50% stronger and use 30% less concrete than traditionally poured walls. While the cost of a bare block or poured wall is less, AMVIC provides insulation and furring strips, and is ready to finish, making it a cost effective and less labor-intensive choice. AMVIC also is far less labor intensive to use where there are frequent openings and/or popouts as are frequently the case in residential construction.

What is the NRG Block wall system STC sound rating?

Architectural Block, Architectural Masonry Products, Masonry...
The 12 " block has a Sound Transmission Class (STC) of 55. We estimate that the 10" block has an STC of 53 based on a direct interpolation. These results are better than Soundblox®, the leading sound absorbing masonry design sold in today's market. The NRG Block is the only block that has a solid façade yet still will provide a superior noise barrier to any other block on the market.

Which is a better wall system in Florida, block or frame?

Frequently Asked Questions
Either can be done well. With block we generally recommend an insulation level of R-5 or more. Usually it is installed adjacent to the block and then a 3/4 inch air space is furred out on the inside. Make sure that the top of this airspace is blocked off from the attic. With frame walls the concern is good insulation installation and reducing air infiltration. Seal gaps, make sure insulation is cut correctly (too long and it tends to bend, too short and it misses spots).

What about concrete?

Frequently Asked Questions
Concrete is a commonly requested material. To be honest, we don't know much about gluing to concrete. You could check with some building sites. Cement is the adhesive that holds concrete together. It will take some research on our part but we are thinking about doing concrete. A very cool and specialized glue! It does its job then you can roll it into ball and ... well, have a ball with it. The glue that is used for "tip ins" (magazine jargon) is referred to as a Peel and Stick glue.

How do I calculate the power rating of an input module?

Excelsys Technologies - 3gen
The 3GEN Series is designed to provide maximum output power at nominal output voltages. We calculate the power output of a unit by using the nominal output voltage (not the set voltage) multiplied by the maximum continuous current you plan to draw. These should be summed for all modules: the total power should not exceed the maximum power of the input module selected.

Will XYPEX work on Concrete Block (cinder block) walls?

Frequently Asked Questions
Because of the high porosity of concrete blocks, two coats are recommended. XYPEX reacts with cement, therefore the blocks should have a minimum cement content of 10%. Applying XYPEX on the interior face of a block wall will not prevent water from seeping through the exterior surface into the hollow space inside the blocks.

Can XYPEX be applied if the concrete or block surface is crumbly?

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Because XYPEX is applied as a cement-based slurry mixture, it will adhere well to crumbly surfaces.

Can CAPE PACK calculate the strength of a triple-wall case?

CAPE Systems
No, not technically. However there are two ways that you can get a good solid estimate of the strength of your triple wall case. First, you can send a sample of the board to the lab and get an edge crush value for the board. Enter that factor in as a custom single wall or double wall board and calculate using the custom values. Another way is to enter a double wall case and a single wall divider that make up the triple wall combination.
