There are several time frames in adopting a waiting child. The first is the home study process, which takes 2-4 months. The second is identification of a child and selection of a family. The time frame is difficult to predict and is determined by many influences. A lot depends on the family’s flexibility regarding the type of child the family can parent and the placing agency. The third is pre-placement visits and placement, which is about 3-6 weeks.

It is possible but depends on the state you reside. Colorado does not allow more than one open home study so for that reason residence of Colorado are not allowed to have two concurrent adoptions. Check with your state officials to find out your options.

Adopting a child can take anywhere from a few months to several years; however, OKDHS cannot guarantee an adoptive placement. Before a child is placed in your home, you must have a home study done and attend adoption workshops. You will adopt more quickly if you choose a waiting child rather than if you want an infant or a "perfect" child.

Currently it takes approximately 18-24 months from the time your application is accepted until travel to China to pick your child up. This time frame can lengthen or shorten depending on the China government?s timeframe in processing paper work. The process is divided into 5 phases. The Paper chase: This is the time frame that you will submit your application and begin to gather the necessary documents for your dossier. This will also include state mandated parenting classes and your home study.

Once your dossier is submitted for translation, a referral is given within 2-4 weeks. Parents specify the criteria the orphanage will use in selecting their child. The orphanage selects a child and then sends photos, medical information and the child's story to the agency. Families are asked to give the referral careful consideration. If they accept the referral, they are asked to sign an acceptance letter. If they decline, another referral will be made within 1 month.

Coordinators2inc is working with families who are interested in adopting children in foster care who are waiting for a permanent family. The child(ren) will be age 9 and older or will be children who the family or another agency has identified for placement. Potential parents can be single or married (for at least one year); live in an apartment, house, or mobile home; have the ability to provide for their family financially; and be of any race, faith or gender.

If you are adopting an infant from Edhi, the whole process from the time you submit an application to when you can bring the baby home takes 10-15 months in most cases. This time is based largely on the agency from which you are adopting and their referral times. It typically takes 3-6 months for the in-country process, from the time you receive custody of the baby till you get the immigration paperwork completed and get the child's visa.

Adoptions are handled in the Probate Court, except in Belknap, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, Rockingham and Sullivan Counties where adoptions are handled by the Family Division. Usually, we work with 18 to 25 families that are in the search phase. By working with relatively few families, we can develop a personal relationship with our clients and be more sensitive to their individual needs. After all, the better we know you, the easier it is to connect you with the right birth mother.

This depends on whether a child is waiting. If there is a child available for whom you are considered suitable it may happen quickly. Otherwise there are many factors which may determine the waiting time.
