Frequently asked questions Lipi printers
This can vary depending on which model of Lipi printer you have. As a general rule you should use a good quality parallel (sometimes also called centronics) cable no longer than 2 meters in length. Some of our models do allow for a slightly longer length (please see printer user/operator manual). The reason for this is that the data coming along the parallel cable can lose it's signal strength the further it has to travel.
Herb's Mac Stuff FAQ
The very short answer is: you can't do this easily. There are problems between the USB-to-serial stuff; problems with printer drivers; and problems with OS X (or OS 9, etc) not knowing about either. The G3's, G4's and iMacs do not have the old Apple "DIN-8" connector (serial Localtalk) for modems and printers. These later Macs either use USB or Ethernet. Regarding the DIN-8 and Appletalk, see a related FAQ question for a description of that port. I don't describe Ethernet or USB.

We designed our serial connections to be compatible with a straight-through 9-pin male-to-female serial cable. Please note that we only use pins 2, 3 and 5 of the cable.
GAMEBOY-ADVANCE.net :: GBA ROM FAQ
You need a Male to Male straight-through cable which should ideally be under 2 meters to reduce the possibility of transfer errors. You can also use a Female to Male converter. Most shops will supply you with the cable if you buy a FA Linker SET. It is possible to fit more games on these cartridges. ROMS are rounded up to the nearest cartridge size i.e. 32M, 64M and 128M, this can be a waste of space as some games may only use half of this space i.e. 45M in a 64M cart.
CapaInstaller - CapaSystems A/S
The problem can be solved in two ways. If you must use LPT1 then disable LPT1 in BIOS and redirect it afterwards. If possible it is easier to use another printer port such as LPT2 or LPT3.

CAPSOFT UK LIMITED-INTERACTIVE FORMS
We strongly recommend an HP Laserjet printer with over 24MB of RAM. One of the reasons for this is that most inkjet printers lack the ability to print an entire form, whereas laserjet printers allow for wide margins and can print on a greater percentage of the paper. This error is usually caused when the full forms pack has not finished downloading. Right click on the file and go to Properties. Look at the file size. It should be over 7MB.

Newton FAQ: Hardware [2/7]
Partly from Apple's Manual "About Cables" ftp://manuals.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Manuals/newton/0308266ANCBLS.PDF] You can connect to your Newton using either a serial cable or an ethernet card (connection from a 2.1 device to MacOS computers only). Please note that using an Ethernet card means first installing the proper driver. The MP1x0 devices and the eMate 300 have a Mini-DIN-8 RS232 and LocalTalk compatible port.

You will need a standard usb cable (the one that is included in the box when you buy the phone). Because you are going to use a usb cable you have to install drivers for this cable. You can find this drivers at the downloads page If you do not have this cable you can buy it from us. For now go to contact site to ask us for the cable. You can also buy it in every electronic store and ebay. It's often the same cable as used to connect digital (video) camera's to a pc.
These jacks are unbalanced TIP = send, RING = return INSERT jacks. The cable used is called an "insert cable" and resembles a Y-cord with two unbalanced TS plugs joined to a single TRS plug also configured unbalanced. This type of cable may be obtained off-the-shelf at many pro audio dealers.
