This can vary depending on which model of Lipi printer you have. As a general rule you should use a good quality parallel (sometimes also called centronics) cable no longer than 2 meters in length. Some of our models do allow for a slightly longer length (please see printer user/operator manual). The reason for this is that the data coming along the parallel cable can lose it's signal strength the further it has to travel.

The very short answer is: you can't do this easily. There are problems between the USB-to-serial stuff; problems with printer drivers; and problems with OS X (or OS 9, etc) not knowing about either. The G3's, G4's and iMacs do not have the old Apple "DIN-8" connector (serial Localtalk) for modems and printers. These later Macs either use USB or Ethernet. We strongly recommend an HP Laserjet printer with over 24MB of RAM. One of the reasons for this is that most inkjet printers lack the ability to print an entire form, whereas laserjet printers allow for wide margins and can print on a greater percentage of the paper.
